Plane skids off runway at Angier airfield

ANGIER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Emergency crews are investigating an incident involving a small plane at the Kennebec Airfield near Angier.

The pilot of the four-seater plane was the only one onboard.

The man in his early 20s was flying from Sanford to Kennebec Airfield Friday around 8:45 p.m. when he misjudged the runway, hit a ditch, and skidded off the runway.

Fire crews responded to the scene due to a small fuel leak.

No one was injured.

The FAA will be on scene on Saturday.
