RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A Wake County school bus driver has been charged with assault and now she is off the job.

Wake County Public Schools said 50-year-old Jacqueline Dennis, of Fuquay-Varina, resigned after being charged.

Warrants indicate Dennis hit two children. One of them was a seven-year-old boy.

The warrant said she punched the boy in the stomach, twisted his arm, grabbed his neck, and shoved him off the bus on May 12.

It said the second incident involved an 8-year-old boy who was pushed into the metal frame of the school bus window.

Dennis is officially charged with two counts of assaulting a child under the age of 12.

She is out of jail on bond.
