Community rallies around Wake Forest officer
A father moved his family to Wake Forest to be closer to his in-laws. Then, days later, he suddenly loses his wife and the mother of his two young sons.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The community is rallying around a Wake Forest police officer, who suddenly lost his wife less than a week after moving to the Triangle. He just started a new job and his benefits have not kicked in yet.

David Cohen's wife, Jamie, died from an unexpected illness. She leaves behind two young boys.

The Cohen family just moved to the Wake Forest area, when David started working for the Wake Forest Police Department. He left behind a job in Asheville where he was a senior police officer.

A Give Forward page has been set up and so far, more than $29,000 has been raised for the brother in blue. The money will help the Cohens during this difficult time.
